Welcome to Belle's Delicatessen & Bar

I remember when Belle's was a pop-up across the street serving legit NY Style Bagels. A few years ago, they took over the spot that was once Cote Est. I remember thinking, "Wow, that's a lot of space for a bagel shop." Apparently, owners Nick & J.D. (friends since middle school) were looking at the bigger picture because they just recently expanded into a full-service Delicatessen complete with a bar. The décor reminded me of the Jewish Delis in New York - leather booths, checkered floors, & framed pictures on the wall. You seat yourself and order at the bar. Someone with bring your food/drink to you. Luckily, there was one spot left at the bar. A very friendly J.D. greeted me. He was an absolute doll. He was hustling - taking orders with a smile on his face and an upbeat attitude. I was curious to try the Pickle Martini but wasn't sure, so I ordered the Schtup on the Beach instead. It was a tasty libation comprised of vodka, passion fruit, & lemon. I had a conversation with a regular who was sitting next to me. He assured me that the Pickle Martini didn't taste like drinking a jar of pickle juice and convinced me to try it on my return visit. He also recommended the Fried Pickles. The cocktails are inventive, boasting creative names like Mezcal Tov and Gin & Tonukkah. The lunch/dinner menu features deli classics and a few creative twists. Of course, you can still get their signature NY Style bagels. I'll be back for that Pickle Martini and nighttime noshes. *Metered street & residential parking.
Love the new iteration of Belle's! I have been twice now, once for breakfast and once for lunch, and both meals were delicious and everything I was hoping it would be. The atmosphere, staff and food are all 10/10, and I cannot wait to come back for nighttime cocktails. I highly recommend the CHERRYWOOD BEET bagel sando (thin sliced smoked beets, onion, dill, capers & cashew cc) and the matzo ball soup. Note on the wait times : the full restaurant has only been open for a couple of weeks, so understandably some people are going to run in to long wait times. BE PATIENT and calm down, any new restaurant is going to be packed and figuring out/getting use to the new service - so of course it's not going to be super fast. Our wait was minimal and the food came out hot even though the place was packed, so no complaints here. People need to slow their roll.
Got here at 820am still a line but it went quickly. Adults got a variety of bagel sandwiches- they were all great. Of course the kids under 4 weren't interested in that and just ate all the pastries (Apricot rugelach and black and white cookie). My kid loved the scallion latkes and gobbled up all 3 on his own (chose applesauce as the dipper which looked homemade and brown). The indoor seating is really nice--nyc with a west coast vibe? Lol. Location can't be beat if you have kids-1 block away from a park and the marionette theatre. This place rocks.
Truly a LA classic in the making! Belles has finally opened up their dining room after years of being a to-go only establishment. Came in on their 2nd weekend and I've never experienced such a smooth "grand" opening operation. While the line wrapped around the building, the staff were calm/attentive, kept the line moving, and paced seating and ordering efficiently. Moving into the food, absolutely divine. I've been picking up bagels and sandwiches from them for a couple years now but eating in really elevated the experience. - The ECA has been a go-to of ours but having it fresh off the line accentuates the premium ingredients and those famous fresh house made bagels. - The patty melt on the new lunch/dinner menu is definitely going to be a star - flavor packed seasoned hamburger (not too cheesy) enveloped by that perfectly griddled rye bread - Scallion latkes are a must and are crisped to the heavens Forgive me for drooling while I write this review! Overall so glad that Belles took their time and put so much thought into their food, process, and vibes. I joked that we now have NY at home here in LA! Will definitely be back once things calm down and will be making this my go to delicatessen.
I love a good bagel sandwich, and I just had one of the best ones I ever tasted here! I tried the North of York and it was delicious! So much savory flavor in every bite. I wish I had more to eat right now. The friend I came with had the vegan lox bagel, which is made with beets. I had a little taste of the cashew cream cheese and it made me wish I had also bought a container of it because they sell housemade cream cheese. But the cashew cream cheese is about twice the amount of the regular cream cheese, so it's pretty expensive. Aside from us enjoying our meals, the overall vibe of Belle's is very NYC deli. It's kind of dinery, feels very fast-paced, and is busy busy busy. In fact, when we got there, they had run out of bagels and we got the last few. It's definitely a popular place, and for good reason. Very helpful staff. Good food. Fun atmosphere. Five stars all around. I can't wait to go back and try more food!
A new challenger for best vegan sandwich in LA emerges. The shroom schnitzel is exquisite and very special. It comes with a perfect soft bun, a house-made oyster-mushroom schnitzel (with just the right crunch), and it's all balanced with cabbage and herbs. It's rare to have a sandwich that feels new, but I've never had a sandwich like this before. You cant find anything else like this in LA. Each booth feels like a little world, with fun images everywhere. It makes me want to travel to each deli they show. And the service was great. My pickle martini was just right, and almost so good it's making me question my devotion to the olive kind. I can't wait to come back.
It was insanely packed on Saturday afternoon! Which is a testament to their bagels. They recently finished their renovations so there's plenty of seating in booths and at the bar. The service was rather slow, but then it is the West Coast and I was expecting NYC speed with NYC food, and the weather is hot so just don't expect to come here and out swiftly on a Saturday afternoon (: I got the MBC bagel with lox and tomato and onions and capers and vegan cream cheese. It was satisfying however I must add: for those expecting a NYC level bagel, it's the closest I've had on this side of the country but it's still a west coast bagel.
Been coming here since it opened . Only walk up service now and ordering online. No sitting room. Who cares! They have the best bagels in LA. The crazy pink filled beet cream cheese, crispy salmon skin, dill, pickled onions, and lox ' Loxsmith' omg ! Every bagel is great . Our fav plain is the sesame. Go, do it!
Great little bagel spot! I had a specific craving for Courage Bagels but hated the idea of waiting in an outrageous line on a Sunday. I needed to get my bagel craving satisfied and took a chance on Belle's, fully prepared to be disappointed (mostly because these bagels are NY style and I was craving the thinner crunchier sourdough experience). While the wait was a little long, (not Courage long thankfully) and these bagels were a completely different style, I was left pleasantly surprised. The bagel is denser as we know New York style bagels are but it's also soft, has a nice chew, and provided a beautiful Sunday experience overall. I can see myself craving Belles bagels in the near future. The everything seasoning on its own was a bit on the saltier side for me but the addition of plane cream cheese neutralized the experience and helped provide a perfect bite. The price was also a nice surprise. I'm used to paying upwards of $20 at Courage and here I was surprised when they charged me $10 and some change for a build your own bagel with cream cheese, tomato, cucumber, onion, capers, and dill. I'll definitely be returning to Belles next time I'm in the mood for a delicious bagel. I would have given them 5 stars if they were open and had more tables to sit.
A nice little quick breakfast/brunch spot to meet up with friends when you're in the area. The interior is still under construction but it looks like there will be a bar inside and possible night time hours! Parking around here is on the street and 1hr parking only and metered. Everything is order at the front for the time being and there's some tables and chairs outside and still covered in case the sun was beaming. The guy, taking my order was super chill, friendly and patient with me as I decided on what to order. He suggested the McB which is basically "A Classic Lox Sandwich" with local Nova lox, tomato, red onion, capers. I love open faced bagels too so I had to try it. Only took like 5-10 minutes as it was quick. It was not as messy as other places and the portions/everything was clean and delicious! Would definitely come back! Plus, looking forward to seeing what the interior will look like when it's done! :)
